Borris Powell Styling for The Grammys

It's award show season and one local designer
remembers exactly what he was doing around this
time last year..Borris Powell was busy designing
his 'Black Swan' dress which he submitted and
won the 2011 Oscars Designer Challenge. A year
later, he's busier than ever and preparing for yet
another red carpet go-around, this time it's the
Grammys.

Mega music mogul Ralphi Rosario, will don a
Borris Powell custom designed suit at this year's
54th Annual Grammy Awards where he will be
attending for his nomination (along with producing
partner Abel Aguilera) for Best Remixed
Recording for Rihanna's "Only Girl" song. The
suit, a slim fit, one button style, is navy in color
with a silk satin shawl collar and steel blue silk
lining with gold trim. "Rosario has worked with
some of the biggest artists and it's an honor of
mine to dress him in something of mine for this
year's show!" exclaims Powell.

Currently, Powell is busy preparing for his much
anticipated Fall/Winter 2012 Collection fashion
show, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT, on
Sunday, March 18th at the River East Art Center
(435 E Illinois) in downtown Chicago. Guests will
witness a spectacle unlike any other.

"The premise for this year's show is that
luxury has a new everlasting name in
fashion," explains Powell. The inspiration
for the collection is pure beauty and
confidence that reflects the Borris Powell
woman and man. Powell will showcase a
color palette of not only his signature red,
but rustic brown tones, a touch of grey's,
the strength of black and a pop of rustic
yellow. Since his Oscars Designer
Challenge win, Borris' success continues
to flourish. He has extended his lines into
exciting Ready-To-Wear pieces, new
trademark carryall handbags, sexy
scarves, and a brand new men's collection.

The show will open with looks featured from
STRUT, Chicago's newest and hottest
boutique in Lincoln Park. Owner, Niala
Conte, is the first retailer to carry Borris
Powell designs and is currently opening
other locations across the country in which
Powell will also be featured.
