Chicago Fashion Foundation 4th Annual Scholarship Event was hosted by Peach Carr of "Project Runway" at the Chicago History Museum. The event, which showcased local fashion student's original designs inspired by Chicago's music scene, awarded $6,500 in scholarship money to the top three student competitors yesterday evening. Guests enjoyed cocktails, passed hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction. The fist 100 guests received a swag bag sponsored by great Chicago brands including: Gilt Groupe’s Gilt City, Michigan Ave Magazine, K-Amato, Icing, Sephora and many more! Of all nine student competitors, the big winner of the night was Chicago's School of the Art Institute student Ana Leon, who took home a $5,000 scholarship for her original design inspired by Chicago's jazz scene. Other winners include K'lynn Kennedy (International Academy of Design and Technology), who came in 2nd place for her 'Classical Edge' design and Rebecca Lopez (Columbia College) who came in 3rd place for her ensemble inspired by The Maxwell Street blues. "We were so pleased to have the opportunity again to award our up-and-coming local talent for their hard work," said CFF President Kristen Amato. "We couldn't have been more pleased with the turn out and cannot wait to see what all the designers have in store for us in the future." The competing designs were judged with the help of Chicago's fashion contributors and enthusiasts including local designer Lara Miller, 24/Chicago's Catie Keogh, Amanda Monteiro of Georgio Armani and fashion enthusiast and blogger Candace Jordan. |
