PrabalGurung Fall/Winter 2012 Hair by Paul Hanlon for Catwalk by TIGI |
With an intriguing theme of "uncursed," PrabalGurung's F/W 2012 showtook the audience on a journey from dark and moody to heavenly and ethereal with wicked black patent leather and fur followed by swirly blue prints and, finally, long white gowns with gold lame and feather accents. Stylist Paul Hanlon complemented the fierce clothes and eye makeup with simple, sleek and strong hair using Catwalk by TIGI. Overall Look: Healthy, sleek and straight strands separated at the ear with a strong, clean center part. |
How-To: 1. Prep the front of the head and create texture and hold with Catwalk by TIGI Curlesque Strong Mousse, concentrating just past the root and down to mid-shaft 2. Let Mousse dry and spray a light coat of Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Shine Spray to smooth the hair and create sheen 3. Separate the front hair line at the ear and apply wefts of hair to create thickness in the front 4. Once all wefts have been applied, use the Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Finishing Spray at the root and blow dry hair to direct the front section to the front of the ear and the back section behind the ear 5. Keeping the hair separated at the ear, bring all hair behind the shoulder and set with the Finishing Spray 6. Smooth any fly aways with drops of the Catwalk by TIGI Curlesque Defining Serum |
ERIN by Erin Fetherston Fall/Winter 2012 Hair by TIGI Global Creative Director Nick Irwin |
Erin Fetherston is expected to deliver all things pretty, and her F/W 2012 ERIN collection did not disappoint. Inspired by the idea of "nature colliding with electricity," signature Fetherston fair tones of white and pastels and pops of jewel tones were accented by metallic prints, light-reflecting sequins and strategically placed crystals. TIGI Creative Director Nick Irwin worked with the designer to create three equally pretty hairstyles to complement the new age fairytale theme. Overall Look: Three soft and pretty styles: long and slightly wavy, a dreamy low pony and a wispy top knot. |
How-To: 1. Create a clean center part and split hair into four even sections, one on each side and two in the back 2. Holding at the bottom, twist the hair and secure with a clip 3. Spritz each twisted section with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Salt Spray and blow dry to set Look #1: Remove hair from clips and leave down Look #2: Remove hair from clips and brush into a high ponytail on the top of the head. Twist into a messy knot and pull wisps of hair surrounding the face. 4. Finish all looks with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Finishing Spray |
Mara Hoffman Fall/Winter 2012 Hair by TIGI Global Creative Director Nick Irwin |
According to Mara Hoffman, her F/W 2012 collection was inspired by "shaman cowboys who sell magic carpets in the desert" - difficult to imagine until you see the perfectly coordinated tribal prints, breezy silhouettes and wide-brimmed hats that have an undeniably Southwestern vibe. TIGI Creative Director Nick Irwin showcased a cloud of Bohemian hair to complement the free-spirited messaging behind each look. Overall Look: Brushed out curls in a voluminous shape to emulate what might result from a horse ride through the desert |
How-To: 1. Begin by sectioning the top of the head and securing with a clip 2. Section the remaining hair into three small, braided buns (one on each side and one in the back), keeping them as tight and close to the head as possible 3. Remove hair from clip and create a clean center part. Separate hair into one-inch sections, lightly spray with Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Firm Hold Hairspray and coil around finger to create flat pin curls - secure with flat metal clips 4. Using the TIGI Professional Pro Flat Iron, apply heat to clips to set the curl. Let cool. 5. Remove clips once cool and lightly brush through with a Mason Pearson brush, covering the three buns 6. Slightly back brush the hair to create a "cobweb" textured effect and set with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Finishing Spray |
Chris Benz Fall/Winter 2012 Hair by TIGI Global Creative Director Nick Irwin |
Inspired by the latter half of Judy Garland's life, the Chris Benz F/W 2012 collection offers whimsical pieces reminiscent of a mid-western housewife clinging to glamour in the 1950s or 60s. Super-femme details of bows, sequins and bright colors were met with fantastically garish makeup and a deconstructed wig courtesy of TIGI's Nick Irwin. This prim and proper lady is decidedly disheveled at the hands of Benz and his glam team. Overall Look: An acrylic wig transformed into a deconstructed beehive silhouette. |
How-To: 1. Beginning with a Mason Pearson and short, curly acrylic wig, aggressively brush out all curls to create the beginning stages of deconstruction 2. Using Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo, spray the entire wig while simultaneously "back-brushing" to create a dry, matte, vintage look with height. You should likely use the entire can. 3. Then, using your hand, flatten the sides of the wig and apply heat with a blow dryer to set 4. Finish with Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Firm Hold Hairspray |
